Video Learning Aids

I have created several videos to help students who learn better with a lecture style approach. I've used both the technique of videoing myself (as shown in this example) but also screen recording where I can explain processes and they can see what my screen shows! This method allows them to see in real time what happens with each step and allows for more personability to connect them to the topics at hand!

Outcomes

  • To show the process so that the learners can follow along with me as I do it
  • Allow me to connect with the learners easier as I can explain what or why I am doing things this way.
  • Helps learners focus on what's needed and not get sidetracked by their fear of the new topic

Visual Learning Aids

Learning complex topics is difficult. To help my students I create a variety of resources for the students. My philosophy is that everyone can learn math, but not everyone can learn math the same way. Many of my students appreciate my videos explaining how to solve the question, but sometimes they prefer a different approach. I have made sure I have resources for a multitude of learning styles. This is just one of many resources I've created in this style to help with Math. These same principles can be applied to any concept of showing how things work in a step by step format.

Outcomes

  • Improved understanding of the concept
  • Allows those who don't digest videos as easily to still understand the concepts
  • Ideal for the visual learner

McCall Elementary Book Fair Program

Took over a struggling book fair program and rebuilt it from the ground up — recruiting volunteers, redesigning the event structure, adding two evening events per fair to increase family participation, and creating documentation so the program would outlast my tenure.
